Juan Pedro ("JP") Moreno, Director, Research & Latin America
Mr. Moreno is the Director of Greylock Capital Management and has over 10 years of experience in emerging markets. Prior to joining Greylock, Mr. Moreno was a Vice President at Contrarian Capital Management, where he worked in their Emerging Markets Fund from 2006 to 2008. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Moreno was an investment banking Associates at Lehman Brothers, in the Telecommunications and Media group. From 1999-2001, he worked at Goldman Sachs in the M & A group where he focused exclusively on Argentine, Mexican and Brazilian transactions. Prior to that, Mr. Moreno worked at Merrill Lynch in the Latin American Investment banking division, first in 1997 as an intern and as then as a full time employee in 1998. Before Merrill, Mr. Moreno was an assistant trader in the Mexican Stock exchange "La Bolsa" working for a local brokerage house in 1995. Mr. Moreno received his BA in economics from Harvard College and his MBA from MIT and is fluent is Spanish and Portuguese.
Corey Modeste, Director, Africa
Mr. Modeste joined Greylock Capital Management in 2007 and covers corporate and sovereign credit analysis in sub-Sahara Africa. Mr. Modeste also focuses on deal sourcing, analysis and structuring for Greylock Capital's private equity and debt transactions in the African region. In this role, he is often on the ground throughout the sub-region (particularly in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, Tanzania and Uganda) and is currently working on closing several deals in the trade finance and infrastructure sectors. From 2002 to 2007, Mr. Modeste was an Associate Director with Fitch Ratings in New York. At Fitch, he worked in the Global Infrastructure Group, notably in the aviation, maritime and transportation sectors. Prior to Fitch he worked with Marin Mountain Bikes GmbH in Nuremberg, Germany and San Francisco, CA, where he headed up the company's global forecasting and logistical supply chain activities. Before Marin, Mr. Modeste was an analyst at the consulting firm Putnam, Hayes and Bartlett in Cambridge, MA, where he worked on merger and acquisitions in the electric utility, energy and transportation sectors. Mr. Modeste received a BA degree in Economics from Williams College and is fluent in French and highly proficient in Spanish and German.
Weiyeh ("Wei") Sun, Director, Asia
Mr. Sun joined Greylock Capital Management as an Associate in June 2008, and will be primarily responsible for transactions in Asia. He was previously an Associate with the International Debt Capital Markets Group in Bear Stearns, covering origination and execution of fixed-income offerings for Sovereigns and Corporates in Asia and Middle-East. Before joining Bear Stearns in 2006, he was a Management Associate with Standard Chartered Bank working on structured asset financings within Corporate Finance, Wholesale Banking. Mr. Sun holds a post-graduate Masters in Financial Engineering from Tepper Business School (CMU)-Nanyang Business School, and graduated with honors degree in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Mr. Sun is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese.
Andrey Popel, Director, Eastern Europe
Mr. Popel joined Greylock Capital Management in 2008 and is primarily focused on Eastern European distressed and high yield credits. Prior to joining Greylock, from 2006 to 2008, Mr. Popel was an investment banking analyst at Bear Stearns, where he was a member of the Leveraged Finance and Financial Sponsors Group. He was primarily involved in LBO financings, recapitalizations, restructurings, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Popel graduated with a B.S. degree in Finance summa cum laude from Rutgers University. He is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian.
Anthony Bitz, Associate, Latin America
Mr. Bitz joined Greylock Capital Management in 2008. Before joining Greylock Capital, Mr. Bitz worked on the International Debt Capital Markets desk at Bear Stearns focusing on originating and structuring debt transactions for sovereign and corporate clients in Latin America and the Caribbean, ranging from plain vanilla bonds to capital markets based project finance solutions. Prior to joining Bear in 2007, Mr. Bitz worked the Latin America Debt Capital Markets group at Standard Bank plc, where he concentrated on debt and liability management solutions for Brazilian and Argentine corporate clients. Mr. Bitz received his CFA charter in 2009, has a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University and is proficient in Portuguese, German and Spanish.
Keng Yee Chong, Analyst, Asia
Mr. Chong joined Greylock Capital Management in January 2010 as an analyst. Before joining Greylock Capital, Mr. Chong worked as a research analyst at 3 Degrees. Prior to this, Mr. Chong worked for the UBS Investment Bank Credit Risk control team, where he performed credit analysis on financial institutions and corporations based in Singapore and Malaysia. Mr. Chong received his Bachelor in Business from the Nanvang Technological University, Singapore and he is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
